American Beauty/美国丽人

Being different from its name, the movie showed the audience the ordinary life of some American families; ordinary, but not beautiful. Below their glamorous life, everyone has some private life which could not be made public.

Applying the tactic of irony, the movie did not limit itself to reveal various dark private lives of the roles. In the darkness, there was still some light, which was the leading role by Kevin Spacey. The man, though in his midlife crisis, was so positive in renovating himself because of some illusory sexual appeal. However, it was more sarcastic that he, almost the only positive guy in the movie, was murdered in the end of the movie. The so-called American Dream was broken for the audience, which may be the subject of the movie.

和本片的名字不一样，本片中展现的生活很寻常，但并不美丽。每个人外表光鲜的生活下面，却个个都有上不了台面的私生活。

本片采用的是反讽的手法，但它并不仅局限在揭示各个角色黑暗的私生活上。在这一片黑暗中，仍然有一丝光明，那就是由Kevin Spacey主演的男主角，他在中年危机的时候，竟然还能为了一丝虚幻的异性吸引力积极地改造自己。但更加嘲讽的是，在影片结尾，这个唯一还有一点光明的角色却被谋杀了，对观众来说，所谓的美国梦也就此破碎，这或许也是影片的主题。

I Corrupt All Cops/金钱帝国

The points of the movie are good, and the cast's performance is good too, but there are too many clues, which make the movie a little unfocused. It is a little difficult to tell some good stories at the same time in a limited time-length.

本片的素材还是不错的，演员的演出也很到位，但主线过多，让电影显得有点散，在有限的时间长度里无法很好地展开故事。

Batman Forever/永远的蝙蝠侠

There are lots of big stars in this movie. Yet, the story is acceptable, but the characterization is not very good. The audience could tell the psycho-inside of Riddler, but Two-face appears kind of too shallow. And the supporting roles are so shining that it seems a little difficult for the leading role Val Kilmer (Batman) to hold the performance.

I think the movie is so eager to cover the original comic books as much as possible, so in the same length, "Batman: The Dark Knight" offers an impressing Joker, "Batman: The Dark Knight Rise" offers an impressing Robin, but this movie does nothing but just introduces every supporting role.

本片可谓是众星云集，诸多大牌明星汇聚一堂，共同参演本片。不过抛开故事不说，本片在人物塑造上还是很单薄，Riddler还稍微有点内心戏，Two-face则过于脸谱化。而且配角过于耀眼，感觉男一号Val Kilmer（Batman）很难hold住场。我估计这可能是因为太想把太多漫画的东西塞到电影里了，所以同样的时间长度，《蝙蝠侠：黑暗骑士》塑造出一个令人印象深刻的小丑，《蝙蝠侠：黑暗骑士崛起》让人记住了Robin，但本片就只能泛泛地把每个配角都讲一遍。

Fearless/霍元甲

Based on the folk stories, the movie tried to portray Huo Yuanjia as a hero who not only was humane but also concerned the national destiny. The story was proper, but the first half of the movie was kind of a little affected and the turning-point was a little abrupt, and the shout of the slogan in the ending part was a little too mainstreamed, which reduced the attractiveness of the entire movie. The kung fu design was almost the best among all the Chinese movies at the same period.

本片依据民间故事，力图把霍元甲塑造成一个有情有义又忧国忧民的大侠，故事是严谨的，但前半部分多少有点用力过度，转折有点大，结尾部分的高呼口号也显得主旋律了些，这些都减弱了全片的吸引力。本片的武术设计差不多是同时期的中国电影中最好的。

Office Romance/Служебный Роман/办公室的故事

As one of the few Soviet movies which were popular in China, this movie cleverly selects the point of office love to portray the ordinary people's love and lives in a bureaucratic office, which is so familiar to Chinese. Distinctive characters and refining lines make the movie worthy of being watched repeatedly.

本片是风靡全中国的为数不多的苏联电影之一。影片巧妙地选取了办公室里的爱情这样一个角度，刻画了中国人感同身受的在官僚主义盛行的办公室政治里的普通人的生活和爱情。人物鲜明，对白精炼，值得再三咀嚼。

This movie is basically qualified as adapted from the comic book, the visual effect is good, and be better than "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" as a whole.

作为从漫画改编的电影，本片基本合格，视觉特效也很出色，整体水平比《灵魂战车2》要高一些。

The movie's ideas were good: magic families, adolescence, darkness, etc. However it failed to make it and turned itself to be nothing but a cool triangle-love jealousy story.

本片的概念本来是挺好的：魔法家族，青春期，黑暗。但电影没有掌控好，结果到了最后只成了一部有点酷的争风吃醋的电影。

This movie is easily understood from present viewpoints, as its sci-fi background is not complicated. However, it is said that when the movie was just released it was not so acceptable, maybe because the sci-fi idea was too far ahead of the times. Put it today, it is a little too lengthy and would be better if compacted.

从今天的角度来看，其实本片的科幻背景很容易理解。不过据说本片在刚推出的时候并不被看好，大概是因为里面的科幻概念在当时过于超前。不过从今天的角度来看，似乎片子也略显冗长，如果再紧凑一点就更好。

This movie is a bit like a special forces' version of "The Hunger Games", but its background logic is a little peculiar: enclosed space, no suicide, hours of survive. Therefore, although the fights are exciting, the whole story is kind of a little fake.

本片有点像特种兵版本的《饥饿游戏》，只不过背景逻辑的设置有点奇特：封闭空间，不能自杀，只有几小时的生存时间。所以虽然决斗的场面还可以，但整个故事觉得有点虚。

Tears of the Sun/太阳之泪

The movie was really a picture of American values, and was like a mix of "Saving Private Ryan" and "Act of Valor", but there were something more like the reflection to the war and human nature. Several parts about the cruelty of war was really bloody.

本片真真是美式价值观的大放送，有点像《拯救大兵瑞恩》和《勇者行动》的混合，但更多了些对战争的反思和对人性的思考，不少直接反映战争残酷的画面颇为血腥。

A Few Good Men/好人寥寥

Although all the roles inside belong to army/navy, this movie is actually a courtroom drama, and of course there are lots of courtroom debating plots. Being different from other same-typed movies, its point is the contradiction and conflicts between the legal justice and military discipline. The personal growing and self-breakthrough of the male leading role by Tom Cruise, the opinionated supporting role by legendary Jack Nicholson, the military discipline and the legal procedural justice, all collide together and make this movie distinctive.

虽然角色都是军人，但本片其实是一部法庭辩论戏，当然少不了庭审的内容。和其他同类型片子不同的是，本片的亮点就在于法律的正义与军队的纪律之间的矛盾和碰撞。阿汤哥的男一号的个人成长与自我突破、老戏骨Nicholson的男配角的刚愎自用、军队的纪律和法律的程序正义相互碰撞，使它别具一格。

Falling Down/崩溃

Almost every man may experience a midlife crisis, but not all of them would go out smoothly. Even "The Incredibles" just referred the midlife crisis as kind of a background information. The midlife crisis of the leading hero of the movie was fatal: unemployment, financial stress, divorce, discord with his ex-wife, no communication with his family (mother), easy irritability, all of these made up an explosive package and ignited in a hot afternoon. Once the long-repressed emotion broke out, it would be so difficult to end it peacefully.

几乎每个男人可能会遇到中年危机，但不是每一个人都走得出来。哪怕是《超人总动员》，也只是用轻描淡写地把中年危机作为背景略加提及。而本片中的男主人公，他遇到的中年危机就是致命的：失业，财务压力，离婚，和前妻不和，和家里人（母亲）没有沟通，容易脾气暴躁，这一切，就像一个炸药桶一样都在一个炎热的午后被点燃了，压抑良久的情绪一旦爆发就很难收场了。

Taken/飓风营救

The movie follows typical routine of "hero alone", and it does good jobs in two points: one is the depiction of the love between the father-daughter, and the other is the action design (this is made the advertisement from the post). Liam Neeson offered a good performance.

本片的故事是典型的孤胆英雄套路，有两点做得很好：一个是父女感情的刻划，再一个是动作片身手的设计（从海报也可以看出来，这成了宣传的噱头）。Liam Neeson的出演很带彩。

The Story Of My Son/爱的世界

A realistic story on love between a father and his son. The love was more precious under some big pressure (such as usury in the movie).

写实主义的故事，主打父与子的感情路线。脉脉的温情，总要在重压（比如高利贷）之下，方才显得更加珍贵。

Die Konferenz der Tiere/Animals United/动物总动员

This was not a good story, too many characters, even too many key persons, confusing clues, some logically unreasonable places in the story, somewhat preaching a little too much, ending a little too ideally. Yet, the environment-protection theme of the movie was commendable, and the exaggeration to politicians' "oral environment-protection" was funny.

For Chinese people, this movie was very realistic: the dam in the movie could be compared to the Three Gorges Dam, which was also an evil money-making works while damaging environment. The difference between the movie and the Chinese reality was: there was only one villain guy in the movie, but there are a lot of bureaucratic guarding their personal interests by advocating the Three Gorges Dam with lots of high-sounding excuses.

这不算一个很好的故事，人物太多，没有焦点人物，线索也比较纷杂，故事的演进有些逻辑上讲不通的地方，说教的味道还是有点浓，结尾也有点理想化。不过片子的环保主题还是值得称道，对政客们的"口头环保"也做了辛辣的讽刺。

而对于中国人来说，这个片子有非常现实的意义：片中的大坝完全可以比作三峡大坝，是一个纯粹为了赚钱而破坏生态的罪恶工程。而片子和现实的差别也是明显的：片子里的反派只有一个，而中国却有一大堆各种官僚用各种冠冕堂皇的借口护着三峡大坝，最终是护着自己的私利。

Véritable histoire du Chat Botté, La/The True Story of Puss'N Boots/穿长筒靴的猫

The movie was an old story: a magic kitten helped a poor boy to marry the princess. The characters' modelling could be regarded as gorgeous, but the rhythm of the story-telling was slow more or less, maybe this is so-called French speed?

这片子讲的是老故事：神奇的猫帮助穷小子搞定了公主。动画片的造型也算华丽，但影片的节奏多少有点慢，大概这就是法国人的速度？

Jackboots on Whitehall/怀特霍尔街上的长统靴

It is really rarely to watch such an animation when the CG ones triumph nowadays. Real location + Freeze-frame shooting would remind the audience of their own childhood. When we were children, wasn't it our way to play with toy soldiers?

The movie was somewhat like《Inglourious Basterds》, also based on jokes about World War II. Yet, it focused more on domestic situation inside the UK, such as the British royal family, Churchill, or even regional discrimination like the relationship between England and Scotland. Of course, it was kind of too bloody for the part of Scottish hero "Brave Heart" slaughtering those Germany army. And at the end of the movie, when the Scottish savages took the place of the Fritz and took England, don't you find something both funny and foolish on watching the repeating of history?

在CG动画片已经大行其道的今天，还能用这种方式来拍摄动画片的可谓是少之又少。实景+定格拍摄，看起来很有一种回到童年的感觉。当我们还是孩童的时候，我们不就是这么拿着玩具兵在玩的么？

这片子有点像《Inglourious Basterds/无耻混蛋》，以恶搞二战为背景，不过它更多是着眼于英国国内，恶搞了英国王室、丘吉尔，甚至还有地域歧视，诸如英格兰和苏格兰的关系。当然，在苏格兰英雄“Brave Heart”带人屠杀德国军队一段，似乎血腥了些。片子最后，恶搞苏格兰野蛮人代替德国佬占领了英格兰，充斥着历史轮回哭笑不得的感觉。

3D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy/3D肉蒲团之极乐宝鉴

The movie was called the first 3D sex movie, but the scenario was kind of a failure, nothing attractive. The 3D scenes focused more on bloody or violent parts, rather than some "more attractive" places.

本片的噱头是全球第一部3D的情色片，不过编剧一般，乏善可陈，改编得比较失败，3D 场面更多是用在暴力血腥的镜头上，而不是拍在那些"更有吸引力"的地方。

Alien: Resurrection/异形4

The movie's name "Resurrection" is so meaningful. It is no longer limited by the conflicts between human beings and aliens in the first trilogy (1,2 and 3), but transfers the conflicts to the inner conflicts between humanity and non-humanity (human beings with alien-gene), which doubtlessly deepens the movie's connotation greatly.

本片的片名“Resurrection”极富暗示意义。本片不再局限于前三部（1、2、3）的人类与异形的冲突，而是把这种冲突转化为人性与非人性的冲突（带有异形基因的人类），无疑大大加深了影片的内涵。
