In correspondence with the first one, the movie demonstrates more on Seedip people's destined failure after their rise in front of modern-equipped Japanese army. I think the movies are more than anti-Japanese ones. In fact, besides exploring how an ethnic group of people tried to preserve their culture, they demonstrates the conflicts between two different civilizations. If in lack of enough patience and restraint, the contacts among civilizations may lead to tragedy.

承袭上部，本片更多展现的是起事后的赛德克人在更加现代化的日军面前的悲壮的失利。我并不觉得本片是一个单纯的抗日题材影片，事实上，它除了展现一个民族试图保存自己的文化火种的主题外，更多展现的是两种不同的文明之间的冲突。如果缺乏耐心与克制，文明间的接触更有可能产生悲剧性的结果。
