This book is a great milestone for detective stories, and it is unnecessary to say its great influence to current novels, movies, TV series and lots of similar detective story books.
Some Sherlock Holmes looks being fabricated a little too much, which makes Holmes a live God who could see through everything. Yet, current era is no longer the one when you can judge someone easily, so Holmes's method is thereotically good but may not be applicable easily nowadays.
