In The Valley of Elah/决战以拉谷

The movie discussed several issues and dark side inside the American army by the exploration of a seemly-ordinary criminal case. It is much like a documentary, reflecting American's ability of self-criticism. One of the good points of the movie is that it does not conceal; the audience could learn the negative side of the victim. The filming skills of the movie is simple, but the ability of self-criticism is so far beyond present Chinese's capability.

本片通过一起看似普通的刑事案件，反思了美国军队中存在的种种问题和黑暗面。片子的风格很像纪录片，反映出美国人的自我批评的能力。难能可贵的是，片子并不多粉饰，甚至受害人自己的负面也清晰地摆在观众面前。影片的拍摄技巧不复杂，但这样自我批评的能力却领先中国大陆几十年。
