This is a great masterpiece and a classic in all over the film history! I had not expected that the movie discussed everything so deeply: science, history, religion/faith, politic and even slavery (the part of men-hunting is so like the slave-hunting in Africa).
The riddle is solved in shock in the ending of the movie, which is a great recall to human history including the development of science and religion/faith. No one in the movie is a 100% bad guy, everyone has his own stand: some to defend the science and new knowledge, some to defend the faith against anything else.
I must say that this movie is nothing but a mini-mirror of human history.
