This movie does have some terrifying parts, such as the girl turned her head and walked downstairs with her hands, but it is hard to call it a "horror movie", I mean, in my opinion, it is more like a movie discussing religion and faith, or the relationship between psychiatry and religion.
How to explain something mysterious? In the traditional religious way or in the new science way? These are always the issues in the similar movies. The audience can see that the director put many of a clue inside this movie, more than just a horror one. Or maybe the real horror comes from the falling down of your faith, not some twisted faces.
Performance impression:
Director: William Friedkin
