Will (by Matt Damon) had been hurt since his very childhood, which made him distrust to anyone. He had been afraid of losing and being discarded, and used to rejecting others before he thought he would be rejected. This was a big deadlock for him and it cost Sean much effort to unlock it. Luckily, Will got talented and beloved by his buddies, which were the conditions to lead him to his own success.
No one should waste his own talent, because what they waste may be what the other fight their lives for.
