Actually the name of the movie is suggestive: it is named "illusionist" rather than "magician", namely indicating that the point of the movie is the illusion rather than magic.
The audience in fact could guess the ending of the story, but the point of the movie is how, not what. I think the movie ends fairly well, the magician by Norton succeeds in cornering the Prince. The whole story is just like the Chinese version of "The Great Magician/大魔术师", but I prefer this one much.
Yet, such kind of sophisticated conspiracy may just appear on screen, not in real life. The reason is simple: the more complicated it is, the more vulnerable it is. Even if it is designed well, a slight fault may lead to failure.
