Religulous/宗教的荒谬

The word Religulous was the combination of religion and ridiculous, fantastic word, isn't it? The word is the topic of the movie: religion is ridiculous.

The best of the documentary is that the narator Bill Maher has a definite conclusion that he did not believe any religions (Christian, Islam, etc), but he did not take it as a certain conclusion for everyone, he just keep asking and questioning, no matter those who believe or do not believe. Since he understood a lot about the religions, he came across little substantial controversy.

And we can see in the documentary, there are different beliefs to the same religion, even inside a same band, such as the viewpoints to wealth, homosexuality, etc. And for example, lots of people believe that America is a Christian nation, but actually there were lots of clear quotes by the founders of America said the USA was not a Christian country, etc. There were full of such kind of ironies in the movie.

Some agree that religion may not be so appropriate, but they insist that science is most religious, because science refuses/expels all the other religions. Well, they do not understand the logic of science. The logic of science is simple: we start, there is a science law, then we look for evidences to prove it or disprove it, until we found a better science law, which explains more. On the contrast, the logic of religions is: at the beginning there is a religious law, then we look for evidences to support it. That is all. (Here or Here you can see the difference between Science and Faith) So it was not strange that Bill Maher said in the movie (not exactly): the worst thing of religions is that it stops you from thinking what you are doing, while the ability to doubt is important to mankinds.

It was much easier for Chinese people to accept the logic of the movie, rather than western people, as most Chinese hold a practical viewpoints to religions: I choose to believe this because it is useful to me. This sounds a little weird, but this theory was more likely to be accepted by Chinese people. However, Chinese does not lack religions too: Marxism in the mainland of China today is another kind of religion, because it forbids people to think and say no, it only allows people to support and to obey. It would be better if Bill Maher included Marxism in the movie.
