Bastard Swordsman/天蚕变

The movie greatly changed Shaw Brothers' traditional straightforward style. Althought it was still a story of "learning kung fu skills for revenging", the story was exciting. And the roles all had various personalities: the male leading role who got rid of his own inferiority; the villain boss who gave up his family life for kung fu(business); the head of the Wu Dang who liked flirting girls but his kung fu was not so good; the heroine who had despised the leading man changed to love him, etc., and all these were very different from tradtional Shaw style.

However, the story seemed not to end in the movie, as villian boss seemed to be ignored till the end. "Return Of The Bastard Swordsman", called to be its sequel, actually had nothing connected with it.

本片已经大大改变了邵氏功夫片原来平铺直叙的风格，虽然仍然是个“学艺复仇”的故事，但剧情也算是跌宕起伏，而且片中的各个人物，感情也都很饱满：摆脱自卑的男主角，为了功夫（事业）而放弃了家庭，功夫一般却处处留情的正派掌门，从嫌弃到爱慕的女主角，凡此种种，都和邵氏的传统风格有很大不同。

不过本片的故事似乎并没有讲完，反派的大魔头到最后居然没人理会。而号称是它续集的《天蚕变之布衣神相》在故事上与它并没有实质的关联。
