The Little Mermaid/小美人鱼

This is a typical little girl's growing story: carefree childhood, parent's over-protection, love hunt and run-away from home, coming across bad guys but finally a happy-ending. In fact, this is a typical American story, with little style of the original fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen.

The details of the movie show the traditional spirit of contract in west: both the Little Mermaid and her father the King signed the contract with Ursula the witch. The contract would be valid until Ursula signed another contract to waive it or, as in the movie, some other guy (the Prince) killed her.

这是一个典型的小女孩的青春期成长故事：无忧无虑的童年，家长的过度保护，寻觅到爱情与离家出走，遇到坏人，不过最后仍有大团圆结局。这其实已经是个典型的美国故事，安徒生的童话原著的色彩已经很淡了。

本片中的细节依然体现了西方传统的契约精神：不管是小美人鱼还是她的父王，都和巫婆Ursula签订了契约，而要打破这个契约，除非Ursula另外签字废除，或者——如同电影里的那样——有一个第三方（王子）杀掉女巫。
