The controversy stirred by the movie was so heated almost as the same as the movie story itself. Actually, the content of the movie was the current social focus: flippancy, inappropriate expansion of the morality, and the lack of communication.

The government of Mainland China wants a quick success, which leads to a social tendency of pursuit of quick success. On the other hand, the too high ethical standards promoted by the government to curb the declining moral made people to demand others morally more than himself. And the lack of good communication worsened the development of various of social events. This is the present picture of China.

The movie could be considered to be fairly good based on the reasons above, and much better than lousy "The Promise" by the same director.

本片所激起的争议大概是本片所反映的故事本身一样激烈。其实从内容来说，本片也算是抓住了当下的社会焦点：浮躁的心态、道德观的不合适膨胀和沟通的匮乏。急功近利的政府造成了急功近利的社会心态，而为了遏止道德的不断滑坡所大力推崇的过高的道德标准也往往让民众严于待人，宽于律己，良好沟通习惯的缺乏恶化了各种社会事态。这就是当前的中国，从这一点上来说，本片也算是当前过得去的影片之一，相比导演之前的《无极》这样的烂片实在是好得太多。
