Universal Studio planned to build a great movie world of monsters starting from this movie, yet, I don't think it is a very good opening for their ambition. The producers thought way too much more than what they did. The whole movie seemed be made up by lots of broken different parts being added up, which, however, made it looked like a long trailer or just an introducing movie for many other ones, lacking the excitement in the original "
Mummy" series.
Tom Cruise did a fairly average job, his style made me feel that I was still watching some movie in
Mission Impossible series. By contrast, Sofia Boutella is shining here.
