A light love comedy among mid-ages with very deep Shanghai-style. The audience can experience the life of the roles, not just their love stories. As for mid-ages, love is part of their daily lives, no longer Romeo-and-Juliet ones. Shanghai is a very special city in China, where even a cobbler can speak English and discuss philosophy with others. They may live in small or rough houses while still being keen on a Foreign-style coffee, they may choose the cheap wine in stores while bragging their young “love stories”, they may find it hard to finish a true art film while expressing their love to the art style. Shanghai, is such a complicated and fascinating city.
The scene of the first dinner is very funny. The dialogues are both polite and aggressive; the metaphors of “leftover meals” and “wild cat” are so appropriate.
