Japanese directors are really good at filming such kind of love stories in normal lives. Lots of love stories, or love itself, do not end in sudden death, or quarrels, or hatred, they just fade away, or disappear gradually.
It is so surprising to watch that all the dialogue lines just come from some normal life, but make you feel so familiar and so arresting, and make you finish the movie unavoidably although you know there is no happy ending here.
Some comments say that this movie is "a love story about Why and How two 100% matching people have to depart each other", yes, perfect comment.
