Inception/

Before watching it, I had heard of lots of praise to this movie. It was really good, the story, the editing and the vision effect. However, honestly speaking, the idea was not surprising, for example, in "Matrix" trilogy, we had known the discussion of the philosophy question: Can you logically reason whether everything around you was objective or just kind of feeling? This question was actually the key dividing line between idealism and materialism.

The discussion in "Matrix" trilogy was more deeper, which included the origin of this world and the human being's role in the world. The discussion in "Inception" was not that deep, which could be regarded as the best movie version of the Chinese allusion "Zhuang Zhou dreamed of a butterfly" (Zhuang zhou, a guy, once dreamed of a butterfly, but he was not sure whether it was he dreamed of a butterfly, or a butterfly dreamed of him). The movie focused on the human consciousness and existence, but it ended a little too quickly. Of course, the open ending went well with the philosophical proposition.

This kind of philosophical movie was hard to draw much attention, unless it had been well commercialized, like "Matrix" did. Yep, this was what had been done by "Inception": Well commercialization + somewhat in-depth philosophy, so it was understandable for it to arouse such a heated reaction.
