Stand and Deliver/为人师表
As an early one on telling how a good teacher saves lots of students, this movie could have spent more time in explaining how the poor minority students struggled in living after school, which could make the movie more powerful, as "McFarland" did. I believe the true situation must be more complicated than the scene in the movie that the teacher took a knife out of his bag and every student soon became a lamb.
I understand the director must prefer to focus on the conflict between ETS and the school, which could make the movie more attractive as the audience always like to watch conflicts on the screens. But the current movie looks like a story of some regular math club and the audience may find it a little hard why this teacher made a great achievement without enough background information that their family were so poor.
