This is a love story adapted from Pu, Songling's "Tales from a Liaozhai Studio". A fox transformed herself as a pretty girl and married a young man, because the young man's father once saved her mother's life. The story itself is very attractive, while the movie seemed a little shattered.
Also, have to say the dress-up at that time (1980's) on the big screen was so bold and shocking; interestingly, you can not expect such kind of dress-up on TV or movies at 2020's. Is it progress or regress?
The two main leading roles also showed up in the famous TV show "Journey to the West(西游记)", the boy as one of "Tang, Xuanzang" and the girl as "Gao, Cuilian" the ex-wife of Zhu, Bajie the second disciple of Tang, Xuanzang.
