This movie was adapted from the same named novel, and it vividly demonstrated the values of individualism in the America. In fact, to fully demonstrate one's own value is the core of the American Dream, which is one of the reasons why the United States attracted some talents and became the most powerful country in the world.

本片根据同名小说改编，淋漓尽致地展现了美国个人主义价值观。其实，能充分展现和挖掘个人的价值，这也就是美国梦的核心，也就是美国吸引了这么多天才并成为地球上最强大国家的原因之一。

Look For A Star/游龙戏凤

The movie was kind of a Chinese version of Cinderella, yet, the three love stories in the movie were more or less out of the normal way; they were too pure, too absent from real life, and made the whole movie a large advertisement in the name of love.

这应该算是一部看了海报就知道是灰姑娘故事的翻版，不过片子中的三段感情多少也实在是离谱了一些，都太纯洁了，太脱离生活了，结果把整部电影拍成一个打着爱情旗号的大广告片。

La dama y la Muerte/The Lady and the Reaper/老太与死神

The movie could be regarded as a perfect combination: a funny movie plot design and its serious philosophical connotation of how to judge life and death in a new perspective. For the deceased, death does not necessarily equal to sorrow, but may equal to ease or redemption. We treat others in good faith, which does not mean we truly understand others.

Although this was a European animation, its style was so much like Pixar.

本片可谓给出了一个完美地结合：搞笑的情节设计和一个以全新视角看待生命、看待死亡的严肃的哲学内涵。对于死者来说，死亡并不都意味着悲哀，也许还意味着解脱与救赎。我们善意地对待他人，也许并不代表我们了解他人。

本片虽然是欧洲动画片，但风格与皮克斯十分相像。

The Robbers/我的唐朝兄弟

The movie was completely an allegory on Chinese both historical or real society. Semi-closed small village; villagers only knowing laboring hard and almost ignorant, and they even need to ask the mayor when to plant; the mayor, the highest authority in charge of the village, tried to maintain his ideal social order; governmental soldiers only knowing taxing and robbing the people; two invading robbers. However, the governmental soldiers robbed like robbers, and the robbers resisted like real soldiers. In the absence of reasonable social order, who was good and who was bad? And when and how to re-build a good order in such a society? To watch the movie was just like to watch the historical cycles in Chinese society.

本片完完全全是一个对中国社会的讽喻，不管是历史，还是现实。半封闭的小山村，只知道埋头劳作近乎愚昧的村民，连何时播种都要去问村长，掌管了村子里最高权力的村长，试图维系着他心目中的秩序，只知道征税或抢劫的官兵，还有两个强盗，但是官兵干的是强盗的事儿——抢劫，强盗干的却是官兵的事儿——抵抗抢劫。在缺乏合理社会秩序的前提下，谁是好人谁是坏人？而在这样的社会中，何时或者如何才能重建一个合理的社会秩序？看这部片子，就好象看中国社会的循环变迁一样。

Monsters vs. Aliens/大战外星人

Some monsters helped the humans to defeat the intruding aliens? well, sounded a little weird and sense of black humor, wasn't it? It was understandable because the monsters were actually humans or something which had belonged to humans, it was reasonable for them to offer assistance to the human. However, did they realize that they would never regarded as part of the human world? How did they position themselves? and what if they had to face discrimination from some guy they endeavored to protect? Of course this was a happy-ending movie and none of the questions above seemed a bother, yet, fairy tales were too perfect to be trusted as they had many problems.

And here was another logic paradox of the movie: when the girl expanded her body, should her bra/underwear/pants expand with her too? This is a Hulk-type mistake, yet of course we would ignore it considering its young audience.

Sex Drive/破处之旅

How a boy grew up and how a girl finally found her Mr. Right was really her neighbor boy rather than someone far away? The movie gave us an answer: by a drive trip. Of course lots of fun happened during the whole trip, yet, the point was: they went together and came back in pairs.

Of course, there were some R-level parts, which was one of the characteristics of teenagers, wasn't it?

The Perfect Education/Kanzen-naru shiiku/禁室培欲

This movie was based on real event of a kidnapped girl, and it was a real example of Stockholm syndrome of kidnapped persons: they refused to blame the kidnappers,  on the contrary, they feel more and more friendly with the criminals.

Except for some R-level parts, the movie is good by aiding us to be aware of the other side of the society.

Partly Cloudy/暴力云与送子鹳

Life is not all wishful, and not all people are easy-going men, also it is hard to expect them to change their nature in limited time. So, what to do then? One can only moderate himself. The animation was really a good one on professionalism for career orientation training.

生活并非处处如意，也总有些人本性不易相处，在有限的时间里又不可能寄望于他们改变处事方式，要怎么办呢？只好自己做些改变。本片真是一部关于职业操守的职场教育好片。

The Four Schools/四大门派

This is a typical Hong Kong Kung Fu movie: fight between the good and the evil; a young man became very skilled by tough exercises with the aid of a good old teacher; all actors had Kung Fu skills or they were professional Kung Fu player rather than professional actors, etc.

The plot was normal compared to the present movies, but still worth watching if someone is very interested in typical Hong Kong Kung Fu movies.

The Graduate/毕业生

It may not be easy for present audience or young audience to understand this movie, as the feeling of loss only belongs to someone who have experienced certain situations and have grown up. This experience can't be learned from books, but just by experience of one's own.

I think every grown-up, who once suffered in his own youth, would not shout "Oh what a wonderful movie", but only murmur and agree that "yes, what a movie". Good movies speak for themselves.

The Magic Cat and The Iron Spider/神猫与铁蜘蛛

This movie was an old-fashioned detective film, with some political conflicts involved. Yet, male audience who are too masculine may not be encouraged to watch this film, as the top detective in this movie was a girl, who almost controlled everything and decided the development of the whole occurrence.

One Foot off the Ground/鸡犬不宁

Facing the competition from new types of media (like the modern music, rock-n-roll, movie, TV, mtv, etc), the traditional folk music and opera were experiencing hard times: less audience and loyalty, more market competition, larger pressure of surviving. This movie told a story of a local opera troupe, which may be a typical situation of the present folk opera troupes in China.

This is kind of culture shock, which happens everyday around us. The old gone, the new come.

Looking for Jackie/寻找成龙

This "education movie" is a kind of waste of time, I just can't image how can a 21st century movie in a 1960's mode appear and try to attract some young audience? The clumsy story, in a god's tone, told the audience to obey his/her parents, to follow what the parents told them to do, and to be good boys/girls. -- I don't buy such a story, can any young teenagers buy it?

The problem behind the movie is more than the skill of telling a story, but the outdated idea of how to educate our kids. The national education system took it for granted that kids must obey their parents (or teachers), so they promoted such a blank movie. However, I have to say they are destined to fail, just check the box office record of this movie.

Wheat/麦田

Come on, what the hell the movie is? Is it a drama or a movie? I would like to say this movie is more like a drama: Everyone was exaggerating his/her expression and words too much. I know the movie is the copy of a similar movie by American, but couldn't it be more natural? don't let the audience be uncomfortable.

The story is somewhat good to tell the story of war from some individual people's eyes, like the two soldiers or some widows in the city. Chinese (mainland) directors did try little in such fields.

However, part of it is really like a valueless comedy, like the funny Korean movie "Garoojigi", if the director wanted to tell the story of two strong men solving the physical problem of lots of single women, please just do it. However, did he still want to show the audience that this is a serious movie? Well, that's too much.

Jurassic Park III/侏罗纪公园3

The third dinosaur movie of the Jurassic Park trilogy gained its fame again. This one focused on the warm relationship among people such as a family or a pair of teacher-student: the divorced couple reconciled for their child, the student risked his life to cover his teacher. The plot design made the audience warm rather than to scare them to scream, which may be the reason for its success though its mode was a little different from the first one of the dinosaur trilogy.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park/侏罗纪公园2：失落的世界

The movie is kind of an imitation of the first one, a repeat of the human-dinosaur fight story. However, this might be a good recall of the first Jurassic Park, but may not be a good enough movie because there was only imitation and repeat, no innovation or originality.

Of course, the dinosaurs were still scaring in this movie.

Jurassic Park/侏罗纪公园

This movie was a real shock to the audience at its first show, as no one can image to see live dinosaurs standing in front of people, just a few feet away from the visitors to the island! The view-sight was so impressive that many TV programs took this as the typical view-sight of scientific movies or movie visual effect.

The mode of the movie is normal: how people fight with some super forces such as monsters or giants. Dinosaurs were perfect representative of such kind of super forces, and it was so easy for them to make the audience scream.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest/飞跃疯人院

This movie is about an abnormal phenomenon but so easy to neglect: there are always someone who destroy others' souls in the name of helping people, or even they themselves believe what they do is right and reasonable. However, these beneficent killers are more dangerous in the society because they kill in the name of kindness and they kill more souls than bodies. In the movie, we can see that every nurse was so cold-blooded while driving normal people crazy.

This movie also has its social meaning: what if the Cuckoo's Nest was the whole society? Can our society tolerate the existence of some non-orthodox people? Is it right to kill the diversity of the society just in order to keep the society "clean"? No, I think the answers to all of the questions are NO. However, we are still able to see the continuous tragedies like the one in the movie happening again and again, especially in those religious or totalitarian nations (needless to say in those marxist nations).

It is important for people to know that one need to learn to get out of his inside "cuckoo's nest", his inside hospital, never get to be institutionalized. This is far more important than get rid of a tatalitarian country he lives in.

Set Off/即日启程

This movie may be a comedy, but I don't see much fun inside. Actually the story could be easily induced to a tragic ending, however, the actor Fan, Wei and the design of several coincidences saved the movie and transformed it to a comedy.

The moive is a story on "Fortune favors fools", so, needless to worry about what would happen to the actor, just wait for him to solve all the problems.

Planet 51/51号星球

Well, this animation is actually a funny and sarcastic remake of the famous sci-fi movie "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial", while including lots of funny spoofs to classical sci-fi movies such as the Alien-like puppy and the Wall-E-like robot: What if the aliens treat the human beings from the Earth just like the way we would treat them in "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial"? What if the human beings from the Earth are described as the monsters or evil creatures?

This is actually a deep question in communication among different species, while the animation answers it in a relaxing and easy way.

The characterization style is not so pleasing, but considering it is a comparatively low-cost animation, it is understandable.

The Hangover/宿醉

How ridiculous a bachelor party could be? This moive may give an answer: the husband-to-be was locked on the roof of the hotel, a dentist pulled his tooth off and married a strip girl with a baby, they stole a police car while almost smashing their new benz, they went to the casino and fought with a local gang boss, they broke into Mike Tyson's house and stole his live tiger..., and much more! All of these were done for a bachelor party!

One of my friends was sent to hospital because of being drunk in his bachelor party, well, his experience was nothing compared to the wild party in this movie!

Just enjoy this movie, much fun!

The Ten/爱情十贱事

This movie was somewhat like its Chinese counterpart "Spicy Love Soup", which was composed by five short stories. Yet, their styles were much similar, and every story taught the audience a lesson on love. This kind of plot-design was pleasant to understand and accept.

Good for the eastern audience, "The Ten" was not a religious movie at all and made it more understandable to the eastern people, though it referred the structure of the part of "The Ten" in the Bible. Actually, it even made fun of the Bible.

Philadelphia/费城故事

A very touching movie. Homo and AIDS are strange to the public even today, because people are unwilling to try to understand something they think disgusting and bad. Tom Hanks' outstanding performance showed to the audience what such kind of circumstance to a homo and AIDS man. The role by Hanks was not a hero, he was just a normal guy, homo, but still love his family, his friends, and be kind to the others, yet discriminated by the company just because of his disease.

This movie is more than a movie; it keeps reminding us of the responsibility in ourselves, to our family, to our friends, to the others, and to the whole society.
