Maybe because this was a co-production of Hong kong and Mainland, it was obviously different from "Eight Diagram Pole Fighter" by Chia Hui Liu though the two had something in common like the story. This movie had fewer Hong Kong style influence, and the kung fu design was a little weaker, Siu-Lung Leung failed to demonstrate his skill well.
本片由于是香港和大陆合拍的电影，因此和刘家辉版的《五郎八卦棍》虽然情节类似，但仍然有很明显的差异，港派色彩淡得多。武术设计似乎也相对来说平淡得多，梁小龙没有很好地显出自己的身手。
