The movie reflects the damage of the McCarthyism to the American entertainment industry. The character setting is so real; the leading man is not a traditional hero, he is even somewhat coward facing the government power, but he finally stands up to defend the truth being inspired by others, letting the audience can not help but applaud for him.

本片反映的是麦卡锡主义对美国娱乐界的伤害。角色的设定非常真实，男主角并不是一个传统意义上的英雄，甚至在面对强权的时候还有一些懦弱，但在其他人的感召下最后时刻能站起来勇敢地捍卫自己心中的真理，让观众也情不自禁地为他欢呼。
