The Shinjuku Incident/新宿事件

This movie could have been a Chinese version of "Godfather", but it failed due to the limitation of the producers. In "Godfather", the director demonstrated to the audience a magnificent picture of some big families, but here in this movie there are only some illegal immigrates and how they suffered.

The story is based on the real living situation of illegal Chinese immigrates to Japan and how they struggle to survive, coping with local police and local mafia. And the worst they may have to fight with each other. This is a jungle, no place for the weak. Once you are found to be weak, you are dead.

This movie may be one of Jackie Chan's most serious one, but I have to say there is still some distance between a perfect performance and his. Jackie Chan's role is set to be far more complicated and mixed than his performance, which may be because he lacks the experience of being an illegal immigrate.
