With a fantastic plot that Peggy Sue the leading role time-traveled to the past and found her divorcing husband was really her Mr. Right, the movie comes to the point that one should treasure his/her own current life and the family because they may really are the best people for him/her. Marriages may be not as fantasy as what you think, but the Mr./Ms. Right may just be the one beside you.
Honestly, I watched this movie because someone said the Chinese blockbuster "Goodbye Mr. Loser" in 2015 copied this movie and made itself a cheating Chinese version. Well, after watching the two movies, I do not agree with the copying saying. Yep, there are time-traveling plots in both movies and both about the leading roles time-traveled to their teenager era, however, the similarity of a single plot can not be taken as the proof that "Goodbye Mr. Loser" copied "Peggy Sue Got Married"; anyway, the writer of "Goodbye Mr. Loser" made it a real Chinese story, and I think the biggest difference between the two movies is: "Goodbye Mr. Loser" is a story about typical Chinese losers: no matter how successful he would be, he is a loser; but the "Peggy Sue Got Married" is a story about how a regular American family reconciled with each other and found the peace in family again.
Performance impression:
Director: Francis Ford Coppola
Cast: Nicolas Cage, Jim Carrey
