As the last one of the trilogy of the new Planet of Apes series, it follows the discussions in the first two episodes: Rise and Dawn: What if apes rise as another new intelligent species beside human beings? Can the two species make peace with each other? In this war between the two species, are human beings doomed to die?
The movie does offer its answer: the apes rise to become the new dominant power in the earth and will replace human beings as the master of the planet. And it connects the last two episodes (Rise and Dawn) and the classic "Planet of the Apes" fairly well (think about the littel girl Nova).
However, I think it has apparent shortcomings: the first one is that I actually can not find the focus of the conflicts inside: there are many conflicts in this movie: good apes, bad apes, good people, bad people, and the biggest fight breaks out between human beings! not human beings vs apes, so, what is the position for Caesar and its partners? The focuses transfer from man-vs-monkey to man-vs-man? Maybe the director wants to create a big picture for the audience, but truly I did not get it well.
