Annihilation/湮灭

The movie's structure is kind of like "Arrival", yet it is a little more undisciplined. The story itself is good, but the ending part is loose (or so-called open, in another word). Maybe the director wants to keep it mysterious enough, which yet makes the audience confusing. What is the purpose of the aliens? They must have some purpose but what is it? They change DNA of everything, and then what? Nothing? and get annihilated finally? They are capable of changing DNA of everything but in the end they are so easily burnt by some fire? The logicl faults undermines a supposed-to-be-good story.
