This is the Chinese remake version of the Japanese movie "Key of Life". The director made some Chinese localization but it was still not very perfect, such as "the killer's home", which is an important place to push the story. Yet, in Chinese version, the killer lived in a very refinery and superior apartment in Shanghai and I don't think that he could afford it with his "salary". The director may need this setting to build a strong contrast between the two guys' lives, but exaggerating too much may not be so necessary.
There are lots of scenes in the movie to salute to the leading actors Andy Lau and Xiao Yang's previous works.
