The movie is based on the true historical event of ex-President Park Chung-hee's death. Park was the South Korean general and politician, later became president of the Republic of Korea from 1963 to his death. Similar with all the other dictators, he kept concerning about his sovereignty and preferred to continue his totalitarian regime as long as he could by repressive ruling and the public's blood, which unavoidably triggered lots of uncontrolled accidents, including murdering from his once-loyal Korean Central Intelligence Agency.
South Korea is really excellent in filming its own history truthfully.
