The movie, no matter in its story framework or its plot, was very much like its successor "Bodyguards and Assassins", while the only difference was the assassins and bodyguards here were all so-called "non-parental brothers". As usual, Chang Cheh the director highlighted the male friendships in his work.

本片在故事框架和情节上都非常类似它的后辈《十月围城》，区别只在于这里的杀手和保镖都是所谓的“异姓兄弟”，导演张彻一如往常地在他的作品里突出了男性之间的情谊。
