The role, Brother Shui, by Stephen Chow was actually a typical loser. He looked like a playboy, but he actually was full of low self-esteem. This role was quite a representative for lots of teenagers. Of course in the end Brother Shui overcame his own inferiority and won his lady.

In contrast, the audience seemed hard to remember the performance by Daniel Chan and Shu Qi in the movie.

本片里，周星驰所扮演的水哥其实是个很典型的屌丝，外表看起来放荡不羁，实际上内心充满自卑。这颇代表了很大一部分青年的心态。当然最后还是克服自卑情结抱得美人归。

相比之下，陈晓东和舒淇在本片中似乎没什么让人记得住的地方。
