This is a biography movie of Ms. Florence Jenkins the singer. She was not the most skillful one, but she must be one of the most passionate singers in that era. She tried very hard to earn her fame on stages although she knew at last her skill was not that satisfying. Meryl Streep offered a very impressive performance again, which brought her a new nomination for Oscar.
For some reason, it came up to my mind Jing Tian (景甜) the well-known, but not famous, movie star who shows up in lots of movies but did not earn a good fame due to her lousy performing skill. She is kind of like Ms. Florence Jenkins the leading heroine to some extent.
