The Lady/昂山素季

Maybe because this movie was about an Asian woman, which was more familiar than "The Iron Lady" and more inspiring. This movie was an epic one for the legendary lady Aung San Suu Kyi in Myanmar, demonstrating her unyielding struggle to the dictatorial Myanmar authorities with the Asian women's special manner, mild, elegant but full of inner strength; during that course, she had been keeping spreading the seeds of love and democracy. Aung San Suu Kyi also paid a heavy price, for example, she was house arrest for very long time, and her husband failed to reunite with her before his death. The constant tragedies created such a great lady.

The movie was banned in Mainland China, and the reason was so obvious. There was Gandhi in India, Aung San Suu Kyi in Myanmar, but there is No similar figure in China, the reasons was thought-provoking.

As an actress, Michelle Yeoh's performance did a great job.

大概是同为亚洲人的背景，本片看起来比《铁娘子》要亲切得多，也更有感触。本片是缅甸传奇女性昂山素季的传记片，展现了她如何以亚洲女性特有的温和、典雅但充满内在力量的方式，坚韧不屈地和缅甸独裁当局斗争，撒播爱和民主的种子。昂山素季为此也付出了巨大的代价，例如被长期软禁，而丈夫临终前也未能团聚，不断的悲剧造就了这个伟大的女性。

本片在中国大陆被禁，原因是显而易见的。印度能成就甘地，缅甸能成就昂山素季，但在中国，却出不了这样的人物，个中原因令人深思。

作为演员，杨紫琼的演出很出色。
