The movie tries to mock its Hollywood peers, but it is not easy, as the social conditions in two kinds of cultures are so different. You can not just copy and paste. The director makes big mistakes to directly copy-and-paste some stage jokes into the movie, which makes the movie fabricated too much and seems too fake.
