The Chinese royal court movies seem to fall into a self-repeating circle: always a mix of coup plots and family ethics, and they all look the same. So it is not strange that this movie looks like "The Banquet", "White Vengeance" and "Curse of the Golden Flower". Liu Yifei's role in the film is actually optional, not necessarily indispensable.

中国的宫廷电影似乎陷入了一个怪圈，总是政变阴谋+家庭伦理的混杂，看起来都差不多。所以本片带有《夜宴》、《鸿门宴》、《满城尽带黄金甲》的影子也就不奇怪了。刘亦菲在本片中的角色其实可有可无。
